Trip Overview

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar (world highest holy tour) is very popular site for Indian Pilgrims and western travelers as well. Mount Kailash is located at an elevation of 6656m and it looks like a pyramid covered on the top with snow. From Nepal there are two major entry points to Mount Kailash either by Kodari or by Simikot. Our overland trip begins from Kathmandu to Kodari (Nepal - China Border) than continue drive to the border town of Zhangmu and Nyalam same day. From Nyalam we head onto Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. At Mount Kailash we start Kora and take Holy bath in the Lake Mansarovar. Visiting Kailash is believed to bring salvation of all sins according to Hindu mythology. After completing the religious rituals according to faiths of devotees we drive back to Kathmandu via same route or we can further proceed to Lhasa and catch the flight or train for onward journey

Trip Details

Day 01: Welcome you in Kathmandu airport and transfer to your stylish hotel in Kathmandu (1300 m)
Day 02: Half day sightseeing tour- personal preparation and trip briefing at the evening.
Day 03: Entry Zhangmu border and rest day for acclimatization. O/n at hotel Zhangmu.
Day 04: Drive to Shegar (4300m) and rest day for acclimatization at Shegar with viewing Mt. Everest, O/n at hotel.
Day 05: Drive Shegar to Lhasa (3650m) via Shigatse, rest day for acclimatization. O/n at 3 star hotel in Lhasa.
Day 06: Fly Lhasa airport to Kunshal Airport Ngari (4400m) and drive to capital of Ngari - Shichen-he (Ger). O/n at 3star hotel.
Day 07: Drive Shiche-he (4300m) to Darchen (250km). O/n at hotel Kailash.
Day 08: Puja/holy dip at the lake followed by Manasarovar parikrama in bus. Time permitting visits Chiu gompa. Drive to Darchen (4600m). O/n at Kailash Hotel.
Day 09: Start Kailash Kora/Parikarma from Darchen pass the first prostration point, Tarboch Flag Pole, the auspicious gateway and the sky burial ground, to Drira-Puk (4765m). O/n at Guesthouse or Camp from where you have superb views of Mt. Kailash.
Day 10: Continue Parikarma over Drolma-la Pass (5610m) to Zuthul-Puk (4700m). Just below the Dolma La is the Gauri Kund. O/n at Guesthouse or camp.
Day 11: Crosses third and fourth prostration point, Zutul-Puk monastery & trek back to near Darchen and drive to hotel.
Day 12: Early morning drive to Kunshal airport and fly back to Lhasa, O/n at hotel in Lhasa.
Day 13: Drive Lhasa to Shegar, O/n at hotel.
Day 14: Early morning drive from Shegar downhill to Friendship Bridge following the gorge of Bhote Kosi River for the final leg of the journey to Kathmandu.
Day 15: Either fly back to your onwards destination or possibly take some extra tour such as visiting Manakamana, Pokhara, Muktinath, Mountain flights etc.
