Day 01: Fly Kathmandu to Lhasa: Transfer to KTM airport for the flight to Lhasa. This Trans Himalayan flight will give you an opportunity to have an aerial view of Mt. Everest and other snowcapped Himalayan peaks. Arrival at Gongar airport and after clearing immigration, drive about 2 hours to Lhasa (3650 m.) check in to hotel and rest of the day free for acclimatize.
Day 02: Lhasa Sightseeing: Start sightseeing with one of the Tibet's most important and biggest monasteries Drepung which is beautifully located on a mountain slope 12 km out of Lhasa. The next go to Norbulinkha, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Surrounded by a lush green garden, it is a favorite place for Tibetan people to celebrate their festivals. In the afternoon, we visit the Jokhang temple, the most sacred and oldest temple in Tibet. Then we walk around the Barkhor Street which is most popular place for Tibetan pilgrims. It is also a famous bazaar for Tibetan handicrafts and antiques.
Day 03: Lhasa Sightseeing: In the morning visit the Potala Palace, one of the wonders in the world and one of the marvels of Tibet. This huge structure is the former residence of Dalai Lama and a sight you will definitely not forget. In the afternoon we visit Sera Monastery, 5 Km outside Lhasa where we can watch the monks debating. They do this in a very special way by making all kinds of gestures with their hands and arms.
Day 04: Fly Lhasa to Kathmandu: The last day of the tour we have to get up early to transfer to Gonggar airport to catch the flight back to Kathmandu or continue your onward journey via mainland China. We arrive Kathmandu around 09:00 0’clock in the morning because of the 2 hrs and 15 minutes time difference with Tibet, Of course we enjoy the spectacular views while we fly over Himalayan range. |
