This is a fascinating course, which encapsulates the three peaks of Manaslu. Manaslu first is the 7th highest mountain in the world and is known as "The Japanese Peak". Opened to trekkers recently, Manaslu's unsurpassed beauty and rich cultural traditions offer the dedicated trekker a genuine adventure. This trekking trail offers brief glimpses into the simple lives and ancient ways of the areas inhabitants. It is a well loved trek starting either from Gorkha or from Arughat, passing through a huge precipitous valley to contrasting lowland. Following Larkya Bazaar, the trail rises to over 5,213m as you cross the Larkya Pass under the glow of soft, winless moonlight and twinkling stars. Buttressed by peaks reaching over 6,500m and covered by snow year round, Larkya pass commands your utmost energies and respect. |

Day: 01. Kathmandu to Arughat (530 m.): A largest village of this river basin: Drive approximately 6 to 7 hours by private vehicle Lunch break on the way.
Day: 02. Arughat/ Seti Khola (750 m.): Trek about 6 to 7 hrs. Follow the river Budhi Gandaki toward its point of origin. Camp near the confluence of Seti Khola,
an ideal place to take a fresh water bath.
Day: 03. Seti Khola/ Machha Khola (890 m.): Trek about 6 hours: Pass the forest trail to
arrive at Riden Gaon. The valley here cuts into another side of the river to enter Budhi Gandaki.
At Lambesi, the trail follows down to the sandy riverbed of Budhi Gandaki.
Day: 04. Machha Khola/ Jagat (1350 m.): Trek about 6 hours; across the suspension bridge and head upstream along the river's edge. After crossing Khorla Besi, there
is a hot spring called "Tatopani". The trail follows forested area after this toward Doban. Below Doban,
there is a huge rapid at Budhi Gandaki. As the elevation increases, the rapids and the scenery undergo
a complete transformation. At Jagat, there is a Police check post where your trekking permit will be checked.
Day: 05. Jagat/ Ngyak (2300 m.): Trek about 6 hours; Descend to the riverbed again. After crossing the river, ascend to a terraced hill of Saguleri.
Sringi Himal (7177 m.) can be seen from here. At Ghatte khola, cross the river Budhi Gandaki to
continue towards Sirish Gaon. Budhi Gandaki valley narrows from here with soaring precipitous walls.
The trail finally climbs uphill to Ngyak for overnight camping.
Day: 06. Ngyak: Explore the area and acclimatize with local excursions.
Day: 07. Ngyak / Ghap (2095 M.): Trek about 6 hours; Follow the trail upstream of Deng Khola a tiny village of 4 houses. We walk through a newly built rock
tunnel from here, thus avoiding the traditional steep climb. At Ghap, the Tibetan culture begins with
Mani stones and chortens all around.
Day: 08. Ghap / Lho Gaon (3150 M.):Trek about 6 hours; Cross the wooden bridge over Budhi Gandaki to follow the path lined with houses interspersed
with cultivated fields. At Namru, there is a police check post again. After Namru, across the Hinan
Khola originating from Linda Glacier and continue on to Sho. Naike peak, Manaslu north and
Manaslu (8150 m.) is visible from here. Camp near a spring at Lho Gaon - a small village
Day: 09. Lho Gaon / Sama Gompa (3500 M.): Trek about 6 hours; Pass the stone gate and long Mani stone wall of the village after Lho with full view of Peak 29 ahead.
You can make a side excursion to Pungen Glacier from here to get a very close up view of Manaslu.
Follow the lateral moraine of Pungen Glacier toward It. From the village of Sama, it takes another
20 minutes to reach Sama Gompa for night halt.
Day: 10. Sama Gompa / Samdo (4000 M.):Trek about 6 hours; Trek along the level land and skirt around the ridge-like lateral moraine heading to
Karmo Kharka and Kermo Maman. Climb terraced hill on the opposite bank of Budhi Gandaki
from here toward a most remote permanent settlement - Samdo. Here amid the most severe
conditions of nature live some 200 villagers in forty houses cheek-by-jowl. Camp ovenight.
Day: 11. Samdo: Local excursions day here trek about 6 hours.
Day: 12. Samdo / Guest House (4450 M.):Trek about 6 hours; Descend a mountain path from Samdo and until you cross Gyala Khola. Ascend again to the ridge
overlooking the remains of a thriving Lyarke Bazaar. Cross two small streams before Larke Glacier
Ascend from here to stirringly built buildings called "Guest House".
Day: 13. Guest House / Larke Phedi (4450 M.): trek about 5 to 6 Hours; Early morning tea and prepare for the pass. Climb slowly toward Cho Canda and continue on
ascending steeply to Larkya La (5213m.). Magnificent view of Himlung Himal (7126 m.),
Cheo Himal, Gyaij Kang, Kang Guru (7010 m.) and Annapurna II are visible from here. It is a
steep descent again on the other side of the pass covered with snow. Camp at the foot of Larke pass called Phedi.
Day: 14. Larke Phedi / Karche (2785 M.): Trek about 6 hours; Descend again to Larcia and to a hill called Pangal with an excellent view in the background.
At Tanguche, you descend again toward Bimtang. Climb the lateral moraine for a while until it ends at a riverbed.
Descend again through Rhododendron forest to Hompak toward the cultivated fields of
Karche for the night halt.
Day: 15. Karche / Dharapani (1943 M.):Trek about 6 to 7 hours; Ascend through the paddy field toward Karche La. From the pass the track descends through
numerous fields to Tillje. Cross Dudhkhola from here to reach Thonje check post. You will join
Marsyangdi valley from here. Camp at Dharapani.
Day: 16. Dharapani / Chamche (1433 M.): Trek about 6 hours; Follow the trail down by Marsyangdi River, passing through the scattered villages to reach
Chamche village for overnight camping.
Day: 17. Chamche / Ngatti (846 M.):Trek about 6 hours; Ascend gently to Bahun Danda until descending again to Ngadi for overnight camping.
Day: 18. Ngadi / Besi Sahar (823 M.): Trek about 5 hours; The trail runs gently down stream of the river passing the village of Bhulbhule. Camp at
Besi Sahar.
Day: 19. Besi Sahar / Dumre / Kathmandu: Trek about 6 hours; After early breakfast, drive by Bus or private transport back to Kathmandu. |
