Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar (world highest holy tour) is very popular site for Indian Pilgrims and western travelers as well. Mount Kailash is located at an elevation of 6656m and it looks like a pyramid covered on the top with snow. From Nepal there are two major entry points to Mount Kailash either by Kodari or by Simikot. Our overland trip begins from Kathmandu to Kodari (Nepal - China Border) than continue drive to the border town of Zhangmu and Nyalam same day. From Nyalam we head onto Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. At Mount Kailash we start Kora and take Holy bath in the Lake Mansarovar. Visiting Kailash is believed to bring salvation of all sins according to Hindu mythology. After completing the religious rituals according to faiths of devotees we drive back to Kathmandu via same route or we can further proceed to Lhasa and catch the flight or train for onward journey |
